Om

Om is the great eraser; it purifies our vibration and helps us to become present. When we chant Om, we let go of our limitations and baggage and we open ourselves up to possibility.  We move away from the thinking mind and the ego-driven small self and allow ourselves to feel and experience the vibration of life, the vibration that links us all.

Brighton Yoga Classes

Brighton Yoga Classes incorporates chanting into the yoga classes in Brighton.  The most favorite and simplest of chants is Om. Here is a great description of its meaning and why we use it in our yoga classes in Brighton.

Om is the most basic and fundamental mantra in the yogic tradition.  It is a magical sound, the sound of all sounds, the sound of energy itself.  It is an external expression of that internal sound vibration that is present in ALL living beings.  In this way, when we OM, we connect and align ourselves with all living beings and with the universe itself.  We create unity and increase our consciousness by chanting it.

When we Om, we literally tune our instrument through the vibration we create.  We awaken dormant energy and prepare the body for our yoga practices: pranayama, chanting, asana or meditation.  We tap into our energetic forces so that they can ascend from the mundane to the divine.

Try it!  Sit quietly, start softly.  Inhale a breath, exhale Om.  Do it 3 times out loud, and then sit still and bask in the vibration.  Feel connected.  Feel at peace.

Brighton yoga classes

Hello again after a few weeks break focusing on finishing my exams and course i am very pleased to say i am a 500hr yoga alliance certified yoga teacher! Its been a fantastic relief finishing and a great sense of accomplishment. It also means i have so much more time on my hands to focus on other things like starting more drop in classes and updating my website.

Spring is that time of year for new beginnings, with more and more warmth and sunlight i’m finding a boost in energy levels and motivation to kick start all things yoga both with my personal practice and with starting more yoga classes for the general public and corporate lunch time classes – this week i am covering for a friend at American Express and have been enjoying doing this regularly for a while. The next step…bring on the summer! More warmth and day light hrs and lots more doors opening and opportunities to enjoy and teach yoga. Bliss!

Brighton yoga classes

Happy new yr! Brighton yoga classes as been off the radar for a while having a lovely xmas break but we are back online and raring to head into 2012 with yoga mats and neti pots at the ready!!

Brighton yoga classes is now half way through the final term of yoga school and starting assessments next week. It’s so exciting to be coming to the end of this chapter and stepping into the unknown of the next. I have a feeling that this is when things will really start to get going and we will come into our own with teaching and spreading the love of yoga.

2012 is set to be an interesting yr for all. There has been much talk about this yr being the time for everyone to step up and start taking more action and responsibility of creating  environments both internal and external that are more in line with our truth ‘ to thine own self be true’ and for consciousness levels to rise. The clip below is just one example of how this change in thinking is really starting to leap out to everyone – particularly as science is now catching up with what spirituality has been pointing to for thousands of yrs… enjoy 🙂

brighton yoga classes

Brighton yoga classes was shown a you tube clip which i have linked below by a brain scientist who described the left and right brain differences. In a nut shell the left brain is the ‘logical’ ‘ego’ mind and right side is ‘expanded consciousness’ and feeling of connectedness. I’m revising for my finals at the moment, looking back through homework’s of 2 yrs ago and reading my understanding of yoga reminded me of this clip again. Yoga is a tool/process of getting into the right brain. It reminds us, guides us to experiencing that ever present felling of bliss and connection. When practiced in a sensitive and intelligent way i.e by ‘feeling’ the philosophy of yoga – not pushing or striving to be ‘better’ or bend further, but by being sensitive and open, really being in the moment, letting past and future stories melt away and just being, switching the mind of and breathing – that’s when we get that taste of complete stillness, bliss! And its there whenever we choose to turn to it!

Watch the clip – its very inspiring! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyyjU8fzEYU
